You may have heard mentions of the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program (or EBB) in some conversations around internet service lately. We’re here to tell you a bit more about what it is and how you can go about seeing if you can get it applied to your Ting Internet bill!
The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program is a new benefit program put in place by the Federal Communications Commission in conjunction with the Universal Service Administrative Company. The EBB is a benefit to help out traditional Lifeline-eligible customers, anyone on a federal assistance program, or anyone who has experienced a substantial loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a $50 payment meant to help people with paying for their internet during the pandemic.
To get the benefit, you’ll have to check if you’re eligible through the National Verifier, a government portal designed to analyze your situation. Many factors will be used to check if you can get the benefit. You will be asked to provide information about your income, details about government assistance or programs that you’ve participated in, any grants you’ve received and your living and family situation. You will also be asked to provide documentation to support your answers. For a breakdown of whether or not you qualify, see the official EBB eligibility criteria. The answers you provide in the National Verifier will determine if you can get the benefit.

Once approved, you’ll fill out a form for your internet provider (us, possibly) and we’ll take it from there. Once the program ends, we will have to stop applying the benefit. At this time, we cannot know how long the benefit program will last but our goal is to keep you informed, on the blog and via email, of any changes to the program or to your account.
You will need to place an order on our website before you can be eligible to receive the Emergency Broadband Benefit with Ting Internet. Once our team receives your order and confirms your address is serviceable, we will reach out to schedule your installation. As demand for Ting Internet is high, please be aware that it may take up to four weeks to activate service once you have placed your order.
