Rampart High School in Colorado Springs is full of energy and a big part of that energy comes from the school band. With about 120 students coming together, the band is a super important part of the school.
Last year, we had the incredible opportunity to support Rampart High School's band program with a donation of $5,000. The goal was simple—to enhance the band room's technology and create an even more inspiring space for musical growth.
Just how much of an impact did the donation have? David Altman, the assistant band director, couldn't be more enthusiastic. "We were able to purchase new equipment, including microphones and sound systems, which significantly improved our rehearsals and performances," he explains.
Gone are the days of struggling with outdated technology that often failed during rehearsals. With the new microphones and sound systems, communication became clearer and rehearsals became more efficient. Plus, the Bluetooth connectivity allows them to sync metronomes seamlessly with the sound system, keeping everyone in perfect time.
The band program offers students a unique opportunity to express themselves creatively through music. They get to be part of a huge community within the school and outside of the school. They also develop a sense of musical independence which leads to a greater drive for discipline. The band members also actively participate in community outreach programs, such as performing at senior homes and fundraising for charitable causes like the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, using their talents to leave a positive mark on the world.
Looking ahead, the future is bright for the Rampart band. Their sights are set on regional travel, with plans to participate in the Bands of America festivals in New Mexico next fall. The concert and jazz bands are gearing up for performance opportunities at the Colorado Music Educators Association. Plus, the Wind Ensemble is prepping for a recording project this spring and aiming to perform at the state convention in January 2025.
When asked about their favorite song to play, a surprising choice was revealed—"Girlfriend" by Avril Lavigne. This lighthearted throwback has become a bit of an anthem, blending nostalgia with contemporary vibes.
All in all, Ting Internet’s support has been instrumental in the growth and success of the band. The improved technology has empowered the students, while the program continues to foster a love for music, and a sense of community.
