At Ting Internet, we believe that fast, reliable internet should be a foundation for opportunity - especially when it comes to supporting the next generation of innovators and changemakers. That’s why we were excited to sponsor this year’s CodeCrew Hackathon in Memphis, a local event that empowers youth to solve real-world problems with technology.
CodeCrew is a Memphis-based nonprofit organization that’s transforming lives by teaching youth and adults from underrepresented communities how to code. Their mission aligns closely with Ting’s commitment to digital inclusion and equity in education. By providing high-speed fiber internet to Memphis neighborhoods and investing in community programs, we aim to help bridge the digital divide and open doors to opportunity.
Held over the weekend of July 17-19, the Hackathon brought together middle and high school students from across the city to form teams, brainstorm ideas, and build innovative tech solutions—all within 48 hours. This year’s theme, “Hustle and Code”, challenged participants to focus on AI, Machine Learning, and Physical Computing to develop tech solutions to enhance the world of sports—from smart gear to data-driven strategies.
From idea to prototype, students received mentorship from industry professionals and had the chance to present their solutions to a panel of judges. Ting was proud to sponsor the event and provide resources that helped make the experience not just educational but unforgettable.
Sponsoring the Hackathon isn’t just about supporting a single event—it’s about helping cultivate a diverse pipeline of future technologists, engineers, and leaders. Many students who participate in CodeCrew programs go on to pursue STEM degrees and careers, and we’re honored to be a part of that journey.
