The cooler temperatures have started rolling in, which means it’s no longer too hot to head out and explore. This list will help you get started on your fall journey via some of the local events in your town.
Oct. 22 in Wake Forest, NC: Battle in the Forest (virtual)
The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department is hosting an online Sports gaming tournament featuring Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Open to players age 10 and older, the online tournament is free to play and will be live-streamed on Twitch.
Registration is open through Wednesday, Oct.19.
Oct, 29 in Holly Springs, NC: HollyFest
The annual, family-friendly event celebrates Holly Springs and all the people, places and services that the community has to offer. Featuring local artists, businesses, food vendors, children’s activities and local entertainment, this free event is a classic Holly Springs tradition. Nov. 12 in Fuquay-Varina, NC: BBQ, Brews & Blues
Spend the day sampling delicious barbecue from the region's best competitors while enjoying live blues music and tasting a selection of locally brewed craft beverages. Oct. 22: St. Rita 5k and Fun Run
Back for its 18th annual 5K and 1K Fun Run, the St. Rita 5K course is lined with trees, sporting beautiful fall colors in late October. Top finishers will get cash and gift cards from local restaurants and retailers, perfect for that post-run fuel!
Oct. 30: Del Ray Halloween Parade
The 26th annual Del Ray Halloween Parade will feature live music by Mars Rodeo and an awards presentation for the pet costume and stroller contests, plus best decorated house and business. Open to all, this is the perfect parade to creep it real and show off your Halloween costumes!
Enjoy craft vendors, food trucks, a petting zoo, free art activities and much more at the firstFall Fest at River Farm. Plus, a portion of ticket proceeds will benefit local nonprofit organizations.
Nov. 12: Art on the Avenue
This multicultural arts and music festival held in the Del Ray neighborhood celebrates the community’s diversity through the arts. Experience over 300 artists, musicians and food vendors along with kids activities.
Oct. 19: Ignite Carroll 10
A high-energy evening of five-minute talks by people who have a burning idea and are passionate to share it with their community. The ignite concept puts speakers in front of an audience with only five minutes to speak on a topic driven by a slideshow presentation that automatically advances every 15 seconds.
This event, an interactive demonstration where the history of hip-hop dance comes to life, is brought by Illstyle and Peace Productions. It’s all about jaw-dropping dance, audience participation and a compelling Q&A. We’re excited to sponsor this one. See you there!
Oct. 22: Kids Spooky Saturday
Calling all ghouls, goblins, pirates and princesses—get your costume on, and get ready to trick or treat downtown, play spooky games, create creepy crafts and enjoy a concert by Mr. Jon. Don’t forget the Spooky Sprint at 2:55 PM, a one-mile run.
Nov. 4-6: Good Game Festival
