This season enjoy the crisp autumn weather at these events in our local Ting towns.


As the leaves change color and turn into works of art, we’re all about that crisp autumn air. The cooler temperatures have started rolling in, which means it’s no longer too hot to head out and explore. This list will help you get started on your fall journey via some of the local events in your town.

 

North Carolina

Oct. 22 in Wake Forest, NC: Battle in the Forest (virtual) 

The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department is hosting an online Sports gaming tournament featuring Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Open to players age 10 and older, the online tournament is free to play and will be live-streamed on Twitch. 

Registration is open through Wednesday, Oct.19.

Oct, 29 in Holly Springs, NC: HollyFest

The annual, family-friendly event celebrates Holly Springs and all the people, places and services that the community has to offer. Featuring local artists, businesses, food vendors, children’s activities and local entertainment, this free event is a classic Holly Springs tradition. Nov. 12 in Fuquay-Varina, NC: BBQ, Brews & Blues 

Spend the day sampling delicious barbecue from the region's best competitors while enjoying live blues music and tasting a selection of locally brewed craft beverages. With local businesses, artisans and community groups, this is southwestern Wake County's biggest beer and barbecue music festival of the year. Weekends through November 6: Blue Ridge Mountain Maze

Corn-fused on what to do this fall? A family tradition for over 20 years, this maze in the beautiful mountains of Central Virginia will make sure you get lost in creating fun-filled memories with your friends and family. 

Oct. 19 - Love and Information by Caryl Churchill (Live Arts)

Made up of more than 50 unique scenes and featuring over 100 characters, this show lets you explore the mysterious complexity of human connections. We’re looking forward to seeing you at this pay-what-you-can show sponsored by Ting!

Nov. 2-6: Virginia Film Festival 

Striving to be a festival that matters, this is a cultural experience that goes far deeper than the movies they screen. The festival consistently and intentionally forges connections within communities, all while facilitating conversations around the most important issues of our time.

Oct. 21-23 and Oct. 28-30 in Encinitas, CA: Haunted Ghost Town

The San Dieguito Heritage Museum and the Ovation Theatre are collaborating on their first-ever Haunted Ghost Town, a spine-chilling, 25-minute tour of the pranks and secrets of the departed at night—sponsored by Ting. Boo!

Oct. 30 from 4-6 p.m. in Culver City, CA: Hip & Historic Halloween

Alexandria, VA

From arts and music festivals to majestic halloween parades, there are fun things to do for the entire family this fall. Here’s an awesome line up of local events that we’re sponsoring in Alexandria, VA.

Oct. 22: St. Rita 5k and Fun Run

Back for its 18th annual 5K and 1K Fun Run, the St. Rita 5K course is lined with trees, sporting beautiful fall colors in late October. Top finishers will get cash and gift cards from local restaurants and retailers, perfect for that post-run fuel! 

Oct. 30: Del Ray Halloween Parade

The 26th annual Del Ray Halloween Parade will feature live music by Mars Rodeo and an awards presentation for the pet costume and stroller contests, plus best decorated house and business. Open to all, this is the perfect parade to creep it real and show off your Halloween costumes!

Nov. 6: Alexandria Living Magazine’s Fall Fair at River Farm 

Enjoy craft vendors, food trucks, a petting zoo, free art activities and much more at the firstFall Fest at River Farm. Plus, a portion of ticket proceeds will benefit local nonprofit organizations. 

Nov. 12: Art on the Avenue

This multicultural arts and music festival held in the Del Ray neighborhood celebrates the community’s diversity through the arts. Experience over 300 artists, musicians and food vendors along with kids activities. 

 

Westminster, MD

Oct. 19: Ignite Carroll 10

A high-energy evening of five-minute talks by people who have a burning idea and are passionate to share it with their community. The ignite concept puts speakers in front of an audience with only five minutes to speak on a topic driven by a slideshow presentation that automatically advances every 15 seconds. 

Oct. 21: History of Hip Hop (School’s Out, Arts In!)

This event, an interactive demonstration where the history of hip-hop dance comes to life, is brought by Illstyle and Peace Productions. It’s all about jaw-dropping dance, audience participation and a compelling Q&A. We’re excited to sponsor this one. See you there!

Oct. 22: Kids Spooky Saturday

Calling all ghouls, goblins, pirates and princesses—get your costume on, and get ready to trick or treat downtown, play spooky games, create creepy crafts and enjoy a concert by Mr. Jon. Don’t forget the Spooky Sprint at 2:55 PM, a one-mile run.

Nov. 4-6: Good Game Festival

The Good Game moniker is a concept that promotes good sportsmanship in online and tabletop games and is expanding into a larger space this year, with more activities and tournaments to explore. As sponsors of GGFest, we can’t wait to see you there!

Oct. 28: Halloween Party

Head over to the frightfully fun, totally free Halloween party at the Bonner County Fairgrounds to enjoy free games, a spooky tunnel, free pumpkin decorating, yummy treats, costume contests and much more!

Oct. 29: Sandemonium

This all-inclusive environment for the exploration and celebration of all fandoms and nerd communities includes anime, comics, sci-fi, fantasy, tabletop gaming, video games, esports and cinema.
