"Up to" is doing a lot of work in most Internet ads. Here's what fiber speeds actually look like once you're using the connection, not just signing up for it.
Cable and DSL providers advertise a ceiling, the best-case number under perfect conditions, shared infrastructure, no network congestion, right router placement. Real-world speeds on those connections often land well below the advertised number, especially during evening peak hours when everyone on your street is streaming at once.
Fiber works differently because it isn't shared the same way. A dedicated fiber line to your home means the number on your plan is closer to the number you actually get, whether it's 7pm on a Tuesday or 2am.
